The EU Delegation commented on the receipt of visas by citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan

There are no significant changes in the procedure for issuing Schengen visas for citizens of Kazakhstan after March 1, 2023, and the European Union did not blacklist Kazakhstan. This is stated in a message published on the website of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Kazakhstan. As a rule, the decision to issue a Schengen visa is taken by the consulate of the EU member state within 15 days. This rule will continue to apply to Kazakhstan. In exceptional individual cases, this period may be extended up to 45 days if a more detailed examination of the application is required and / or additional documents must be submitted. This practice has always been applied to all applicants, regardless of their nationality, and is resorted to only in exceptional cases.

The preliminary consultation procedure, which was recently introduced for Kazakhstan, can take up to seven days, and these consultations are carried out during the standard procedure of 15 days. Therefore, there will be no significant delays in the issuance of visas for applicants. Preliminary consultations are a standard procedure regulated by the Visa Code and apply to a number of countries. The Schengen Information System (SIS), which is systematically used by the Member States of the Schengen Area to consult with each other, does not contain “black lists”.

General information on how to apply for a visa can be found on the website of the Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs.

"The introduction of preliminary consultations for Kazakhstan within the framework of the Schengen Information System has nothing to do with the excellent relations between the EU and Kazakhstan, which continue to develop dynamically in various directions and areas of mutual interest," the report says.
