Junaidullo Khudoyorov, an activist of social networks, was arrested in Russia at the request of the Tajik side and detained for two months.
Farhod Khudoyorov, brother of Junaidullo Khudoyorov, told Radio Ozodi on June 24 that “he was arrested two days ago in Berezovo, Khanty-Mansiysk.”
“We hired a lawyer for him. If he did not insist, Junaidullo would have been sent to Tajikistan on Friday,” he added.
The authorities of Tajikistan and Russia have not yet explained the reason for the arrest of Junaidullo Khudoyorov.
On Sunday, Radio Ozodi saw a document due to which Junaidullo Khudoyorov was arrested at the request of the Rasht Regional Department of Internal Affairs. Under the document Major General Saidzoda M.B. signed. In it, Junaidullo Khudoyorov was suspected of hooliganism (Article 237, Part 3 of the Criminal Code).
Junaidullo Khudoyorov himself said in a short video from the courtroom that he was arrested based on the complaint of relatives of the family whose son is responsible for the murder of his nephew, Alirizo Khudoyorov.
21-year-old Alirizo Khudoyorov, a student of Rasht State University, was stabbed to death in a fight in 2021. Although two people were arrested and imprisoned for his death, the quarrels of the families did not end.
In 2018, Junaidullo Khudoyorov was sentenced to five years in prison for the crime of following the “Salafia” trend, which is banned in Tajikistan, and was released in 2019 based on the amnesty law. At that time, he said that he was convicted and considered the case to be an assignment.
After his release from prison, he was in Russia, but after the murder of his nephew, Alirizo, he returned to the village.
Junaidullo Khudoyorov and his other brother, a member of the Social Democratic Party of Tajikistan, Farhod Khudoyorov, always criticize the work of the authorities in Rasht. They believe that the events of recent years are putting pressure on them to shut up from criticism.
