Citizens of Tajikistan Convicted of Selling Drugs in Volgograd Region

By the verdict of the Gorodishchensky district court of the Volgograd region, five citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan were found guilty of committing crimes under Part 3 of Art. 30, hh. 4.5 art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – an attempt on the illegal sale of narcotic drugs by an organized group, on a large and especially large scale. According to Oksana Cheredinina, senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Volgograd region, it was established at the court session that the defendants in the criminal case for the period from 12/28/2020 to 02/28/2021 tried to sell mixtures containing narcotic drugs on the territory of Volgograd. It was not possible to bring the criminal intent to the end, since the illegal activity was stopped by law enforcement officers. About 2 kg of prohibited substances were confiscated from illegal circulation.
The state prosecution in the criminal case was supported by the prosecutor’s office of the Gorodishchensky district of the Volgograd region.

Taking into account the circumstances of the crimes and the opinion of the state prosecution, the court sentenced the men to imprisonment for a term of 8 to 11 years to be served in a strict regime correctional colony.
The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed by the parties on appeal.
